Banilad Cebu City
Much has changed since i first set foot here in 1990 as a fifteen year old USC-TC freshman. I lived in a boarding house just about a hundred meters away from University of San Carlos Talamban Campus.
Blessed kids of today, they have Jollibee now. In our time in the 90s was Julie’s B (bakeshop):
Competing against Jollibee is this carenderia at the front. This one is owned by Nong Cards. I used to eat here almost everyday:

Unahan pa sa Jollibee. Atbang sa Sto. Nino Village:

Same area above:

Further closer to Dona Rita Village is this restaurant “Cheaverz.”

Cheaverz Fried and Grill Banilad Talamban branch:

Dona Rita Village and next to it is Rosedale:

Rosedale and St. Cecilia’s Dormitory:

Rosedale commercial building:

Just a few meters ahead is USC-TC, my alma mater! Proud of this school. One of the best in the Philippines.
One of my best moments as a teenager was spent here. Chasing girls was one. Hahaha..

May 11th, 2009 at 2:48 am
Hi. I just want to ask if there are near buildings (2 story I think) that have a bakery on the ground floor. It is said that it is in Banilad Cebu near USC.
Thanks.
May 11th, 2009 at 2:53 am
It could be the Rosedale building or St. Cecilia’s dorm. Or maybe the one at the front of USC-TC. Julie’s Bakeshop is there.

Pwede ba lalake sa St. Cecilia’s Dormitory? I really need to know. Thanks.
July 19th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
Ed, babae lang sa St. Cecilia’s. Sa USC na dorm, both male and female.
August 8th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
oh But hindi ako papasok sa USC. Are there more dorms sa Cebu na maganda? or even boarding house na maayos?
August 8th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
There are good boarding houses close to USC-TC. Just choose the one with a security guard. In my time there during the 90s, boarding houses with no guards were burglarized a number of times over.

ladykristinn – It’s just along the main Banilad road.

TC should have its separate page. The campus is quite nostalgic to me. We strived so hard just to make it to ROTC every morning on Sundays.

The best and effective thing to do is look around near USC-TC. Last i was there was in 2003, so my information about boarding houses and dorms are not that updated.

GREETINGS!! My apologies for this lengthy message..May you find some spare time to patiently read it. You think it’s possible for you to assist me find a person(my cebuano best friend-”BARRY ALINO”)who lives in sto nino village-banilad. He also went to the same school as yours in san carlos..His full name is-BURMAN ZOSIMO ALINO.
Do you happen to know the ALINO’S of that village? Or is there anything you can provide me where i can find the listings of families who lives there. It just happend that i don’t know his exact addresss and w/ your help i may be able to catch a few info that could lead me to his whereabouts(like landline and cel No.,email ad,friends or relatives who knows him etc.) Oh you have no idea how it would please me if there’s something you can do so i could get in touch w/ him again. Our friendship started in college during the mid-80′s at San juan de letran in manila.
We haven’t seen each other for the last 15+ years..Frankly, our friendship really means a lot to me..And how can i say this…ahmm.. hope i’ll be able to find him soon and revive the old friendship back.Believe it or not, the reason is like between life and death… The sad truth is im already sick and badly ailing..I inherited a life-threatening kidney disease from my late dad and it already started to reach its end-stage..In short, my happy days are numbered and the bad news is There’s no cure for it! The medications i take is only to slow down the progress of the disease. This is the only recourse i got left and it won’t be long soon before this turns out for the worst-and eventually…my life will be over..So I’m racing against time to find my friend before it’s too late..So can you lend a helping hand to this dying man? i’m not really sure if my request is valid and doesn’t violate your terms of usage.
When i found your website, it gave me a new ray of hope.Ive done every possible way in trying to locate him but all my efforts were fruitless. And now, I’m givin it again another try and this time to your webpage..For who knows you might be the one who will be kind and considerate enough to to aid me in my quest that will finally lead me to him. Well, i just hope you could..But if not, I understand and it’s okay.Like what i’ve said i’m just takin my chances w/ you. I know someday my searching will hit paydirt.. I just have to keep on trying… Just consider this as a simple peaople inquiry..There’s no pressure here.. I’ll find other ways in case your answer will be in the negative.. Your reply wil be greatly appreciated..God bless and more power..

i was also a patron of nong cards carenderia way back 90′s, i love his pork chop and fried bangus.
July 14th, 2011 at 10:22 am
Please allow me to air my side as a parent, although My four kids are studying presently at USC North campus. I have witness, plenty Carenderias sprouting nearby, which I think offer best choices for the students. But sad to say they also offer Beers or Liquors during classes and even until 10p.m.which I think, will surely disturb residences in the vicinity. I am very much concern of how much money their parent have spend them to send them to this University. They might skip classes, and thats the start of something new. I hope We could do something about this, We should be very sensitive about the consequences this situation will offer, We must help Build their Future and not the profit of those individual.

Cebuano,
Thank you for the link. Yes, I’m actually doing a comparative study on Urban forestation for the City of Mandaue. I would love to take photos, but my camera was abducted leaving me one antiquated point and shoot.
Just earlier today, drove and tried to capture images somewhere in Lahug and Mabolo, but the photos were no good.
Again, thank you for the link.
